Good morning to everyone in the Kingdom of Thailand—a land blessed with peace, grace, and enduring harmony.
We warmly welcome you to Songkran, the Thai New Year, a time of renewal, reflection, and heartfelt connection.
Much like Christmas in the Western world, Songkran is a cherished season when families reunite—when loved ones return home, and generations come together in joy. In recognition of its deep cultural significance, April 14th has been designated by the Thai government as National Family Day.
Each year, from April 13th to 15th, the nation observes a public holiday to honor these traditions.
Rooted in the warmth of summer, Songkran is traditionally marked by the gentle pouring of scented water—infused with floral fragrances and nam ob—as a symbol of blessing, purification, and goodwill. It is a gesture of respect, often offered to elders, carrying wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity.
Today, as we become more mindful of global challenges—especially water scarcity—we embrace a more conscious way of celebration. With grace and responsibility, we honor the essence of Songkran through symbolic acts: a delicate sprinkling of water, just enough to preserve tradition, yet mindful of the world we share.
In these simple yet meaningful moments, families gather once more. Elders are honored, bonds are renewed, and hearts are filled—with warmth, with gratitude, and with quiet joy.
This is Songkran—
a celebration not only of water, but of life, love, and the beauty of togetherness.
