Description
An experience of spending time with several exotic hilltribes in the mountainous regions of Chiang Mai is highlight of this tour programme. Estimated at half a million, they are believed to have migrated from Tibet, Myanmar and China during the 19th century to escape from famine, warfare and discrimination.
Separated into smaller groups by customs, distinct languages, religious beliefs, dress, historical traditions and architecture, they are composed of six main groups: Akha, Hmong (Meo), Karen. Lahu (Musser). Lisu and Mien (Yao).
